Analysts should be more like women

Male analysts should be more like women, that is.

When a woman listens to another woman’s problems, she lends a sympathetic ear and actually comes to understand the problem.

When a man listens to a woman’s problems, he is rarely actually listening. Rather he is trying to figure out how to solve the problem, often interrupting the woman to tell her what he thinks the solution is. However, he doesn’t listen enough to really understand the problem in the first place.

Just a thought.

Not only does he generally not listen, he generally shuts the woman up or if he bothers to answer tosses off a careless comment along the lines of: You should just do xxxxxxx.”

Not all women listen either! Fortunately there are members of both sexes that listen carefully, but they are few and far between. In some cases it can be a question of bad timing or no listening skills.

Interesting post for a blog about business analysis…
